Pride Meeting – 20th Anniversary with ‘Zoom for Pride’
Act 53 – Juneteenth
Zoom for PRIDE
We found out this past week that Hawai’i is represented by the rainbow lei (pictured below) in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History‘s exhibit ‘Illegal to Be You: Gay History Beyond Stonewall’, which is dedicated to the fight for justice and equality for the LGBTQIA+ community.
I gave the lei to Jerame Davis, who was with Stonewall Democrats at the time and is now the Executive Director of Pride at Work, at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC. It should be noted that every member of Hawai’i’s delegation wore a similar rainbow lei on the night that the delegates voted on the platform that made passing marriage equality a priority for the entire Democratic Party!
